I have been working at the Social Science Research Facility since 1999, first as a part-time graduate student, and for the last year, as a full time research consultant and system administrator. My primary responsibilities are the design and maintenance of our backups and some aspects of user and application support. I am personally interested and in storage and data protection technologies.
I am planning to use these pages mostly as a collection of references directly related to work, and possibly some documentation that doesn't have a home in the main SSRF site.
| Main Web Site | This is where you will find our contact information, working hours, announcements, etc. |
| Documentation | Documentation for the services we provide, application packages that are available on our machines, and so on. |
| RT | Our request tracking system. |
| Mailman | The interface to mailman, our mailing list software. |
| SquirrelMail | An experimental webmail system to access your SSRF account. |
| Computing Resources at the SSRF PDF/PostScript/TeX | A rather long article I wrote to introduce SSRF to new users. Includes lots of basic UNIX information as well. |
| Technologies | Information about current tape technologies |
| Software | Major backup software vendors |
| Hardware | Manufacturers of tape libraries and other backup hardware |
| Hardware | Sources of general and vendor-independent information |
| Miscellany | Other stuff I need frequently |
