The Economics Research Library

Hours: Monday - Friday 1 - 4:30 pm

Location:  3-145 Herbert M. Hanson Hall

The Department of Economics at the University of Minnesota funds their own library, the Economics Research Library.  The collection consists of economics and mathematics books, economics journals, working papers, and a few government publications.  The ERL also houses the department archives.  The library was created in 1967 with a donation of items from Professor Jacob Schmookler.

The Economics Library can be used by anyone; however, only faculty and graduate students from the Department of Economics may check items out.

A little history:

In January of 1999 the library moved from its 30+ year location in the Science Classroom Building on the east bank of the Mississippi River (where the new Science Teaching and Student Services Building is now) to the 12th floor of Heller Hall, then called the Management -Economics Building, formerly the Business Administration Tower.  In late May of 2008 the entire Department of Economics relocated to the 3rd and 4th floors of the new Hanson Hall.
