-- A Note on JSTOR --

A handy list of our current and former journal titles with links to electronic versions:

To find journal articles, use the following indexes:

  1. Econlit:  http://www.lib.umn.edu/get/3105  Use "Advanced Search" for the best results. Includes articles from 1969 to date, some working papers from the mid-80s to date, and papers from collected volumes or conference proceedings from 1984 to the present.  Econlit cumulates citations listed in the quarterly Journal of Economic Literature. The print version was called Index of Economic Articles and covered the period 1886-1994.
  2. Ebsco’s Business Source Premier: http://www.lib.umn.edu/get/ebsco
  3. The archive JSTOR.  This database does not have ALL economics journals (Most of the journals included are published by associations or university presses). You can use the search function to look for topics, authors, etc., but be aware that you are only searching content in JSTOR-archived journals, many of which do not yet go beyond 2007. Econlit and BSP are the indexes which include journals articles from all publishers.

A useful reference for finding articles referenced in other articles is called the Social Science Citation Index: http://www.lib.umn.edu/get/3160  SSCI cites articles from over 1700 journals in all areas of the social sciences, including economics. Each citation also includes a list of references cited in the source article. It is also possible to generate a list of articles and books that have cited a specific author or paper.
Please let me know if you can’t find an article you are looking for.  I may be able to get it for you more quickly than inter-library loan, although most requests now take less than a week.
