Experience in
evaluating
damages |
|
I have evaluated damages in well over 1,000 cases since 1968, testifying about
4 times per year in Federal and state courts (IA, MN, ND, NV, SD, WI). Most cases
have been calculation of economic damages suffered due to personal injury,
wrongful death, or employment discrimination but have also included business
fraud, breach of contract, price fixing, real estate condemnation, statistical
analysis of discrimination claims and calculations relevant to punitive damages.
Clients have included attorneys for plaintiff and defendant, the U. S. Attorney’s
office (Minneapolis) and the Minnesota Attorney General's office.
I have also consulted with the U. S. Bureau of the Budget (now Office of
Management and Budget) on valuation of costs and benefits from government
investment projects, including those in health, safety, and other areas which
require the valuation of human lives, and those that require evaluation of
corporate investment opportunities. Some of my teaching, research, and
research by my students writing Ph. D. dissertations, has been in this same area
of cost-benefit analysis.
