Pictures from Midwest International Economics Conference (October 2005)
Here are some pictures I've taken after the Midwest International Economics Conference in Kansas University, Lawrence, KS. It was a beautiful fall day and the campus was very nice to walk around. I was with my friend Young-Ro from Cornell University.

ASSA Meetings in Boston (January 2006)
Here are some pictures taken during my hectic visit to Boston for my job interviews... I was having cold at that time and was not in the mood for fun, and besides all those crazy interviews.. I'm just hoping that I wouldn't have to repeat this again. After the interview, I had a time to visit Harvard University too.

Flyout... adventures! (February - March 2006)

After the interview in Boston, I had a chance to visit several places.. Here are some pictures taken from my visits to some nice places I went to...
Basel (January 18-19) (pictures taken by my camera phone)

Australasian Macroeconomic Conference (April 2006)
Some pictures taken from my trip to Singapore and Sydney. I was visiting Singapore to see my brother's family and Sydney for the Macroeconomic Conference. The aerial pictures taken from the plane is from Bali. I had the luck of stopping over at the airport for half an hour. Even from the plane, it looked gorgeous.

Commencement Ceremony (May 2006)
We could not have had the worse timing for the commencement ceremony this year. It was raining and the temperatures were in the upper 30s (and it was May 12th). What a way to commemorate the commencement in M-i-n-n-e-s-o-t-a. These pictures were taken on the commencement day. Most pictures were taken inside. Later, I took time to take 'fake' pictures with my parents on May 16th and then with my close friends on May 19th. More of these pictures with my friends.... this one's from Sue's folder and another from Julian's folder.

Chicago on Megabus and South Dakota with Parents (May 2006)
I went on a rush trip to Chicago on Megabus ($40 roundtrip!) leaving at midnight, arriving in Chicago the next morning, leave Chicago at 4pm and arrive in Minneapolis at 11pm. So a trip that lasted exactly 23 hours. Here are some pictures taken from it... Right afterwards, I left for South Dakota with my parents. We went to Badlands National Park, Wall Drugs, Mitchell Corn Palace, and our final destination, Mount Rushmore. It was fun.

Curtain falls and the Stage goes dark... (August 2006)
As the title suggests, the month of August has been emotional with people leaving Minneapolis. Earlier at the end of June, we had a small reunion at the Econometric Society Meetings many of the other colleagues came back and we had a good time at Grandma's. Here are some pictures taken from the Gang of Minnesota Economics 2000. Next, I did my final defense on August 7th, and after the defense I took some of my friends and my co-advisor Larry to a lunch at Origami's. Here are some pictures.
Well, it's still not over yet... since my visa is miraculously taking so much time, I decided to take a break and travel around. I will be in Montreal and Toronto (August 12-18) and Chicago and Indianapolis/Bloomington (August 19-23). If the visa is still not out, then my next trip will continue.
Before the Final Curtain.. ROAD TRIPS!!! (August 2006)

So before leaving the US, I've made some hectic trips here and there. Before leaving on the 12th for Canada, I finally delivered my car (that dude was my best pal in Minnesota) and had dinner with Hyejin, my cousin from NY, and Aum. Here are the pictures taken from August 11th. Check out the picture with sombrero.
My first destination was Montreal. Well, it surely has a different vibe than any other North American cities I've visited, but somehow my anticipation of the city being 'European' was too high. Still, the town was beautiful and the food was great too, except for some 'ethnic' places I went to. I realized that it's never a good idea to try ethnic places without getting an advice from the local people. Anyways, here are the pictures from Montreal.
After spending three nights, I took a train to Toronto, one of those fancy trains with full meal service and a lousy internet service. I went to stay at Carlos' place, and I had a great time hanging out with Carlos and his girlfriend Jennifer. Also not to mention the humping dog, Bo! Here are some pictures from Toronto and the Niagara falls.
After coming back to Minneapolis (boy, flying these days is a hassle..), I went on another trip. Before the trip, I was invited to Bosu's place for dinner. A Korean style gourmet was presented by Bosu's wife, Sook-Hee. First destination was Chicago, where I stayed at Azeem's place in downtown Chicago, and was also joined by Seung-Hyun from UIUC. Since Azeem had a car, we were able to go around all the nice places... Just to mention a few, an authentic Korean barbeque place (with real charcoal grill... you'll get the idea) and one of the best Chinese restaurant in the Chinatown. Still mouthwatering... Anyways, here are the pictures from Chicago.
After spending the weekend in Chicago, I took Megabus (again!) to Indianapolis, where I was picked up by Young-Ro and Yoon-Jin. We had a fancy dinner at Oceanaire and went to Bloomington, Indiana, where Young-Ro and Yoon-Jin are starting their work at Indiana University. We also had a great time there... the unforgettable experience was the humongous steak and the flaming kebab I had. Seems that the only things I tend to remember from my trips are foods!
In the meantime, my visa got approved finally, and I set my flight date for August 31st. Au Revoir, Minneapolis!

Last days in Minnesota (August 2006)

After six years in Minnesota, I think I will sorely miss this place once I leave.. I don't know why, but I've had so much ups and downs (mostly ups thanks to all the great people I met here) and the fact that I've spent almost one fifth of my life here gives Minnesota a special place in my life.
So before leaving, I have decided to enjoy the ultimate Minnesota experience by going to the State Fair for the first time. It was umm... Minnesota to the highest nth degree. I was joined by Jungwon and Dan. Here are some pictures from the State Fair.
Also for my last Sunday brunch I went to Loring Pasta Bar with bunch of my friends... Here are the pictures taken from the brunch.
And dinner invitation to Hwikwon's place and pictures of beautiful Dasom and Arum.
This is officially the last set of pictures taken from the last day in Minnesota... ignore the first set of pics... they were taken at Felix's bed and I was showing off my new Ipod. Then, there are some pictures of the campus as well as some pictures taken with Patrycja and Carlos, visiting from Toronto.
So this is it... I will not update pictures here anymore. There will be a new place to post bits and pieces of my life.
