Experimental looks (September 2002)

Oh yes.. this is the most recently taken picture of myself. Well, the goatee is now gone since I was merely experimenting on my new looks. By the way it was taken on September 7th, I think, by our computer guru Dong Oh.

My fake family shot (October 2002)

This was taken at my classmate Annie¡¯s place. We went to see her new-born baby, Gracie, and we were a bit busy taking turns to hold the baby. Well, we ¡®almost¡¯ look like a happily married couple with our baby! This picture was taken with help of Maria Fernanda.

My trip to New York (October & Thanksgiving 2002)

I had to take a short trip to New York in October, leaving on Saturday morning and coming back the Sunday evening. The trip was short but was loads of fun. I stayed at my aunt¡¯s place and had tones of good Korean food(something I wouldn¡¯t trade for!) One was taken at my aunt¡¯s house in Long Island and the other in front of the Laguardia airport just before leaving. By the way, you would be wondering what I¡¯m doing with the suits that doesn¡¯t really suit me.  This picture was taken after I came back to Minneapolis. A month later, I went back to the Big Apple for Thanksgiving, and here's a picture from the feast with my relatives.

Metrodome pictures (World Series 2002)

One of the joys of living in Minnesota is to go and see the Twins baseball game, and I've been to several of them so far, including those when the Twins were up for the World Series 2002. Too bad we didn't go all the way to win the Series, but we did good nevertheless. Here are some pics: one while I was too much into the games, another with my friend Carlos, and some more (1,2) when we were at Professor Kehoe's house for the Twins vs. Angels game.

More of Minnesota Winter (Winter 2002) - 1 , 2

These pictures were taken on February 3rd, 2003. I think we had a big snowfall the night before and the next morning the whole world turned into a big white snowland. Enjoy the “exotic” beauty of Minnesota!

Pictures from Korea-Japan (Winter 2002)

This winter, I went back to Korea to visit my family, especially two new members of my family, Joon-Gi (Ryan) born in November and Jae-Ho born in June. As you can see, they are just adorable. Also the fact that they resemble their dads so much makes me wonder whether my future kid will resemble me so much¡¦ kinda weird and funny. This picture was taken just after jaesa ceremony on January 13th. Jaesa is a sort of Korean ¡°ancestor-worshipping¡± ceremony¡¦ more like a remembrance day for the dead. Jaesa is a remnant of our Confucian heritage. This one was taken while I was traveling in Japan. It¡¯s at a temple in Kyoto called Ryoanji, and look at the beautiful scenery! The city of Kyoto was really great with lots of cultural heritage. It¡¯s definitely worth a visit!

Pictures from Kansas City, MO (March 2003)

During the spring break of 2003, I¡¯ve decided to go to Kansas City, Missouri. Not a perfect destination for spring break but it turned out to be a fun road trip. And here are a few pics from Kansas City (I should have taken pics of barbeques¡¦ they were just awesome!!). One is inside the Union Station, the other is in front of the Nelson-Atkins Museum.

Pictures from Summer Internship at the IMF (Summer 2003)

During the summer of 2003, I spent 3 months at Washington DC working as a summer intern at the International Monetary Fund. Not only did I work and met lots of fascinating people, but also loads of fun!  As a starter, this is the picture of my office. Not with a great background, but the whole room was for myself! The first pic is at the Mall on the Independence Day. The fireworks were great and there are around half a million people gathered around the Mall. On July 5th, we went to Annapolis, MD for a day trip. On top of the great seafood(crab cakes rock!) we had, we took a cruise to a lighthouse out in the Chesapeake Bay. It¡¯s called Thomas Point Light. The city of Annapolis was small but very impressive. Here¡¯s another pic I took at the city dock.

Another destination we went to was Baltimore, which was only an hour drive from D.C. .  We, (from left to right, Hyoung-Koo, Jung-Jin, Maybelene, me, Meherun, Yoon-Young, and Alain) mainly stayed at the Inner Harbour and also went to the Aquarium. Some folks came back and some stayed for the Orioles game.

One day, the Korean gang of four decided to take a photo shoot inside the beautiful World Bank and (not quite as nice) IMF buildings. Here are some pictures. - 1 (in front of the IMF gate), 2 (inside the big banquet hall, IMF, joined by Maybelene and Hong Leng), 3 (next to the World Bank cafeteria), 4 (in front of the World Bank entrance). And yet another goofy picture  taken inside the main hall of the IMF. The Korean gang also harrassed Namsuk hyung('brother' in Korean) , who was studying at the University of Maryland and hosted lots of parties  at his place.  (Even Elmo was invited!)

These pictures were taken at the Great Falls on the Potomac River  that divides Virginia and Maryland.

This picture was taken on August 22nd when we were having a farewell luncheon  for the summer interns.

One of the last activities was to visit the National Cathedral and watch the free concert by the National Orchestra. This picture was taken in front of the cathedral.

Last picture  was taken some time in August near the Potomac River with the Kennedy Center on the background.
