University of Minnesota

Timothy J. Kehoe

Workshop

In the fall of 1991, Tim and Ed Prescott started a workshop with their graduate student supervisees. In this workshop, students present their work frequently, and at stages ranging from the beginning of a question and an idea for a model to a polished presentation ready for the job market. The presenter receives intense feedback from the faculty participants in the workshop and from the other student participants. The workshop started as a private club. Since the 1999–2000 academic year, it has been a course at University of Minnesota. During the period 1999–2002, it was formally titled the Workshop in Macroeconomics; since 2002, it has been formally titled the Workshop in Trade and Development. The workshop meets throughout the year, as long as participants are in town, whether or not the university is in session.
